Identifying Lead Abatement Needs for Improved Health Outcomes

With a wide variety of symptoms and sources, lead poisoning can be hard to identify, particularly among children. However, understanding and managing risk of exposure to lead is now possible, neighborhood by neighborhood.

Concerned residents, public health officials, and local organizations can now proactively identify areas at risk of high lead exposure to target lead detection and abatement efforts.

CDC HIV diagnoses (incidence) data is updated to 2017 and HIV prevalence (cases) data is updated to 2016.

CDC drug overdose estimates are updated to 2017. The data now includes specific rate of drug overdose death values rather than previous rate ranges.

Head Start Center locations are updated to 2019.

Low Income Housing Tax Credit locations from the Dept of Housing and Urban Development are updated to 2017.

CDFI Investments data is updated to 2017 and includes the number, aggregate and median amounts of investments.

New to PolicyMap is Mail Response Rates for the 2010 Decennial Census and Self-Response Rates for the 2013-2017 American Community Survey, as well as Low Response Scores indicating hard-to-reach populations for the Census Bureau.

Unemployment, employment and labor force participation from the BLS are updated to June 2019.

New to PolicyMap is Medicaid Opioid Prescription Claims from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid for 2017.

Minimum Wage data from the Department of Labor is updated to 2019.

Museum locations from the Institute of Museum and Library Services is updated to 2018.

Farmers’ Market locations from the United States Dept of Agriculture (USDA) are updated to 2019.
