New Education Data on PolicyMap
If you want to learn about the newest data on PolicyMap, then check out the Education tab. We’ve added a significant amount of new data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), relating to elementary and secondary education in public school districts. All the new data is at the school district level. Here’s a list of the data we’ve added:
- Pupil/Teacher Ratio
- Graduation Rate
- Total Revenue from Local, State, and Federal Sources
- Total Expenditures per Pupil
Additionally, we’ve replaced certain data from the New America Foundation with data from NCES. Rest assured, New America Foundation data on student proficiency will remain. Here’s a list of the data now coming from NCES:
- Total Students
- Number of English Language Learners
- Title I Federal Revenue
- Children with Disabilities Federal Revenue
- Child Nutrition Act Federal Revenue
Most of these indicators are available as both totals and per-student averages. Also, most are available from 2000 to 2008, with some available in 2009 and 2010.
If you’re interested in seeing where this data came from, take a look at The Elementary/Secondary Information System, known as ELSi, at the NCES website.
