See our maps in the new Google Maps gallery!

Google has announced Google Maps Gallery, which features content loaded as part of the Maps Engine public data program. PolicyMap is excited to be an early partner in this program. We’ve added some of our most popular maps to the new Maps Gallery, which includes maps of Crime Rates, Voter Turnout, Health Indicators, and Demographics. View all of our Google Maps in our gallery profile page. Visitors to the gallery will discover PolicyMap’s offerings while exploring hundreds of maps that cover a wide range of topics: Culture & Society, Environment, History, Infrastructure, Crisis/Humanitarian issues, and more.

Our map of owner-occupied units affordable for a family earning 120% of Area Median Income is currently featured on the front page of the new Google Maps Gallery. Similar to PolicyMap, these interactive maps support the display of data indicators at different geographies and zoom levels. Clicking on a geography makes additional data and information available.

We created these maps using Google Maps Engine, a tool which allows organizations to load their geospatial data directly onto Google base maps and share those maps with the public. Google’s public data program is a new way for us to showcase some of the great information that’s already available in PolicyMap. The maps we have loaded and customized for the gallery will also be indexed by Google and will appear in search results.

With our continued participation in the public data program, we hope to introduce more data and mapping enthusiasts to PolicyMap and demonstrate the power of our data to a larger audience.
