Data Innovation Day: A Big Day for Big Data
PolicyMap was pleased to participate in Data Innovation Day today in Washington, DC. This one-day conference brings together data enthusiasts from all sectors to discuss new developments in data science and how data affects governance and society.
Two important themes that emerged during the day were governmental efforts to make data open and available, and how public data can be incredibly personal as well. The federal government continues to provide more data in accessible formats on Data.gov, and many cities and other governments are doing so as well. The myriad uses of this data continue to be a topic of much discussion; including visualization in aggregate (as seen on PolicyMap) and individual level data such as personal use of one’s own medical records.
