Find Natural Hazards with FEMA Flood Maps
Flood maps, from FEMA’s National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL) database, show the risk of 100-year and 500-year floods throughout the country. They’re used by the real estate industry to determine types of flood insurance needed, and are also useful for finding the economic disparities or environmental hazards in flood prone areas. Immigrant Neighborhoods and Foreign-Born Data
PolicyMap recently added data on foreign-born population by country of birth, from the Census ACS. Use the data to identify immigrant neighborhoods that may need services like refugee support assistance. It’s also just interesting to see where different communities have coalesced.
